Last Updated Aug 2009

On Monday, June 1, 2009, at approximately 1:59 pm, the Fort Myers Fire Department received a call of a structure fire at 3701 Sabal Pam Boulevard.  Firefighters arrived on scene at 2:04 pm.

Upon arrival heavy smoke and flames could be seen from apartment G4, a 1st floor unit.  All occupants of the apartment were safely outside and the rest of the building was in the process of being evacuated.  Firefighters assisted an elderly man and his wife from a second floor unit.

A young woman and her baby were transported as a precaution for minor smoke inhalation.  They were not occupants of the apartment involved.

Preliminary investigation reveals the fire started in a back bedroom and quickly spread throughout the apartment.  The unit suffered heavy fire and smoke damage and is uninhabitable.  The occupant and her three children will be assisted by Red Cross.

The Fort Myers Fire Department had three Engines, two Ladder Trucks, a Rescue Unit and the Battalion Chief on scene.

The scene was cleared at 3:41 pm.
